Cacti-EZ Graphs Network Monitoring for Internet Service Providers - Part 1
Cacti is a widely used network monitoring tool and has been of great assistance for all network administrators, especially in the internet service providers field and WISP.
If you are a novice user and don't want to go through the installation of cacti.net with plugins, you are better of just downloading the fully compiled setup of CACTIEZ.
I was recently contacted by a small WISP startup, and below is my step by step installation guide which will assist you in getting up and running.
Below are the steps.
1. Go to http://cactiez.cactiusers.org/ or click the following options:
HTTP Download: http://cactiez.cactiusers.org/download/S-X-DF29Gy8wtrhRSfTVdA/1503331200/CactiEZ-v0.7.tar.gz
Torrent Download: http://cactiez.cactiusers.org/torrents/CactiEZ-v0.7.torrent
2. Once download is complete, burn the iso on a blank CD or 2GB USB using free rufus tool. Rufus tool can be downloaded from the below below site:
https://rufus.akeo.ie/
3. Boot your PC, VM or Server using the just created CD or USB and you are all ready with a fully functional cacti server with "Monitor" plugin to give you real time display of your network.
Post your comments below, I will try to create a Part 2 with detailed instructions of how to add network devices and a brief info about SNMP for graphing purpose.
